A Two-Time Formula One World Champion

Alberto Ascari was born on 13 July 1918 in Milan, Italy. He was the son of Antonio Ascari, one of Italy's great pre-war drivers. Alberto Ascari followed in his father's footsteps and became one of Formula One racing's most dominant and best-loved champions.

Ascari won the F1 Drivers' World Championship title twice, in 1952 and 1953, for Scuderia Ferrari. He is the only Italian driver to have won the title more than once. Ascari is also the only Italian driver to have won the Indianapolis 500, which he did in 1952.

A Tragic End

Ascari died on 26 May 1955, while testing a Ferrari at the Monza circuit. He was 36 years old. Ascari's death was a great loss to the world of motor racing. He was one of the greatest drivers of his generation and was still at the peak of his powers when he died. Ascari's legacy lives on. He is still remembered as one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all time. His name is synonymous with speed, skill, and courage.
