2024 Wisconsin Primary Elections: Live Results and Maps
Overview
The Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) conducts primary elections to determine which candidates will represent each political party on the November general election ballot. Wisconsin's primary elections are held on the fourth Tuesday of August in even-numbered years. The 2024 Wisconsin primary election will be held on August 27, 2024.
Key Races to Watch
Governor
The most closely watched race in the 2024 Wisconsin primary election is the Republican gubernatorial primary. Incumbent Democratic Governor Tony Evers is seeking a second term, but he faces a challenge from several Republican candidates, including former Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and businessman Tim Michels.
U.S. Senate
Incumbent Republican Senator Ron Johnson has announced that he will not seek reelection in 2024. The Republican primary to replace Johnson could be a crowded field, with several potential candidates already expressing interest. On the Democratic side, Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes is considered a potential frontrunner.
U.S. House of Representatives
Wisconsin has eight congressional districts. All eight of the state's current U.S. Representatives are seeking reelection in 2024. However, several of the races could be competitive, particularly the 1st Congressional District, which is currently held by Republican Bryan Steil.
How to Vote
Wisconsin residents can vote in the 2024 primary election by absentee ballot or in person at their local polling place. Absentee ballots will be mailed to registered voters starting in July 2024. In-person early voting will begin on August 9, 2024.
